Derby re-signalling project completed

8th October 2018

Train services resumed in and out of Derby station on Monday 8 October 2018 following the successful completion of the station’s 79 day transformation.

  • 17km new track installed
  • 150,000 tonnes of ballast (railway foundation stone) used
  • 240 engineering trains used
  • 10 signal gantries installed
  • 65 new signals installed
  • 79 sets of points installed (allowing trains to cross from one track to another)
  • One new platform installed
