Projects with the Community

Thanks to the support of many local schools, businesses, parish and town councils, we have been able to roll out a great many projects at intermediate stations all along the route, including,

  • Station artwork by schoolchildren
  • Permanent station murals, sponsored by local businesses/councils/the rail industry
  • Children’s poetry competition to help them learn about rail and encourage use of rail
  • Trips on Train to introduce children to rail travel

We also hold regular Community Days at stations. These days are arranged to support the activities of station volunteers and serve to ‘spring clean’ stations.

At these events we are supported by East Midlands Trains’ staff, Day Centre members, British Transport Police officers, schoolchildren and staff from many other local supporters, including TESCO, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, local authority staff, Network Rail and ACoRP.
