Uttoxeter Pergola and Arbour/ Toolshed Project

23rd September 2020

NSCRP congratulates the Uttoxeter Station Adopters on the success of this major project. The pergola was planned in response to an observation that passengers had nowhere in the shade to wait for taxis and buses. The arbour / tool shed, located in the Heritage Garden, is a unique design that comprises an arbour with seat and a concealed tool shed behind. The volunteers, led by Mick Eyre and Marika Latham, completed all of the project planning, permission applications and funding bids.

With support from EMR technicians, Neil and Kev, the installation of the pergola and the arbour / tool shed was completed by the end of July. The pergola is decorated by minibeasts designed and painted onto wooden plaques by children from St Mary’s First School. The Grand Opening event was held in September and attended by representatives from CrossCountry, EMR, Uttoxeter Town Council and the children, with their teachers and parents. Funding for the materials was provided by an ACoRP Small Grant. The NSCRP funded artist-in-residence, Tracy McGuinness-Kelly to work in the school.
