We proactively encourage residents from the local community to `adopt` their local station and become station volunteers.

We now have over 50 volunteers who work at the intermediate stations along the route. They’ve transformed station gardens as well as being the eyes and ears of their local station, reporting any faults and issues. Their ideas also help to inform our station improvement projects and they provide that extra local knowledge that is so helpful to us and East Midlands Railway in securing the support of the local community for their station.

Our volunteers also offer great support away from the station; they help to promote the local rail service and assist with passenger surveys, all great added value for our Partnership.

All North Staffordshire Line volunteers are members of the East Midlands Railway station adoption scheme, which supports them in their role.
