Action Day 2021

Action Day 2021

Apr 2021

Eleven people gathered at Peartree Station to tackle the ivy and to refurbish the long neglected and empty raised beds.  Due to the pandemic we did not invite CRP volunteers from other stations or local community members.  In their place we were very pleased to welcome an enthusiastic workforce from East Midlands Railway’s Commercial team.

Neil and Kevin removed rotting timber benches, added a new layer of sleepers to the top of the raised beds and clad the sides with decking timber to protect from further damage.  After a thorough weeding the planting started: two pear trees and lots of colourful and drought tolerant perennials.

Many thanks to Neil and Kev, to the Peartree volunteers and to the EMR team for their hard work.
