Adopt-a-Shelter with Excalibur Primary School

Adopt-a-Shelter with Excalibur Primary School

Oct 2022

Children from Excalibur Primary School adopted the Platform 2 shelter in October 2021 and have been helping the station volunteers keep the station look colourful and tidy ever since.  Poetry and art work from the school is displayed in the poster cases, giving passengers something to look at whilst they wait.  Many thanks to children and staff from the school and to Trevor and Ian who have been working with the group at the station.  The project won 3rd place in the national Community Rail Awards (Small Project category) in 2022.

As part of this project N Staffs Community Rail Partnership and EMR have delivered rail safety lessons in school and provided free train travel to Excalibur’s Year 6s to Longport Station and Westport Lake to support their Science curriculum.
