On a cold November’s day a small group of us gained access to two of the arch spaces under Longton Station. One used to be the Ticket Office and the other was used by various businesses. Unfortunately, they are too damp to be usable as a community space. On our Facebook page we asked people to send in their memories of Longton Station before the Ticket Office closed in the 1990s. They talked about a full roof, then canopies, over the platforms, covered ramps up to the platforms, sidings, and the terrible damp of the ticket office, staffed by the much-praised Micky Blairs.
