Sherborne Community Project

Sherborne Community Project

Aug 2023

This year was the second year of funding from Avanti West Coast for the Sherborne Community Project in Crewe. The Project provides a local community hub and a range of activities including a children’s gardening group and an adult peer support group. Working with Avanti and the Sherborne Project we supported a number of families in visiting Crewe Station where the children learnt about how the station works, how trains are dispatched and they got to announce a train and, their highlight of the visit, they got to announce a train! Following on from the station visit we accompanied them on a try the train trip to Llandudno in April where they were able to spend time at the beach and at the Victorian Extravaganza enjoying the fairground rides thanks to Conwy Valley Community Rail Partnership.

To mark Avanti West Coast’s support for the project over the last two years, a plaque has been unveiled at the community hub with Mayor of Crewe, Councillor Dennis Straine-Francis, doing the honours.
